FUTURECLASSIC our monthly jump that bridges the gap between past and present RETURNS to 1ST FRIDAYS! yup, we’re back home, and it just so happens it’s the 4th of july! we embrace independence day by bringing you THE FUNKY 4TH EDITION. we’re proud to introduce one of new york’s most flavorful selectas, DJ SABO (sol selecta / wonderwheel / irma) along with DJ SENOR OZ (afrolicious, sf) and PROOF (massive selector) to rock an afro-latin-outernational set for yall. we’ll also be celebrating with our host-with-the-most, ANTHEM SALGADO who’ll be going hella international this summer on a fullbright scholarship in the philippines (big BIG UPS homie!) join us in the soul lounge with some of our favorite disc jocks COOP D’VILLE, SHRED ONE, and DJ PHATRICK. to commemorate indepen-DANCE day, admission is FREE before 11pm, $4 after with RSVP at going.com/futureclassic4th that’s right, it’s FUNKY $4 ON THE FOURTH, spead the word!

ABOUT DJ SABO (sol selecta / wonderwheel / irma)
SABO’s production in the last four years has gained international recognition and brought him to DJ in countries like Brazil, Spain, Dominican Republic, Austria, Mexico, and Kosovo, as well as various cities in the US. He has six EP releases on his own label Sol*Selectas, two 12″ releases on Wonderwheel Recordings, and a full length album on the way in ‘08 for Irma Records in Italy, with production partner Zeb. From Brazilian to Afrobeat, Disco to Reggae, Hip Hop to Dub, Miami Bass to House, Latin to Techno, Sabo is known to be locked into each style as if it were the only thing he’s been spinning for the past 10 years, and he flows seamlessly from one genre to the next. He’s been a special guest at Turntables on the Hudson parties for the last 5 years, works at the Turntable Lab NY store, is an instructor at the Scratch DJ Academy, and has dj residencies at Bembe, Cafe Noir, Hotel QT, and Sushi Samba in NYC. He Dj’ed the infamous PS-1 Warmup Party in 2003, The Cooper Hewitt After Work Series in 2004 - 2006, and was nominated to URB magazine’s Annual ‘Next 100′ in 2006. He’s opened up for the bands Yerba Buena, Brazilian Girls, Antibalas, The Pimps of Joytime, and Si*Se, and has remixed tracks for Nickodemus, Kokolo Afrobeat Orhcestra, Los Monos, Pacha Massive Sound System, and Balkan Beat Box. Quiet as kept, San Francisco’s PROOF is one of the West Coast’s elite, throwing game-changing events with his Massive Selector brethren and spinning all over the place with the hottest selections. Heavily influenced by classic funk, deep soul, hip-hop, and house, PROOF’s sound definitely cater to the dancers. His mix cd’s, known for their global flavor and crossing genres seamlessly, have created quite a buzz with music lovers. ABOUT COOP D’VILLE (true skool)
Born in Spanish Harlem N.Y.C.,Coop D’ville was influenced by the birth of hip hop culture. As a five yr old growing up in Uptown N.Y., he witnessed the pioneers of graffiti, djs, and b-boyin such as Dondi, Kool Herc, and Crazy legs. Inspired by Red Alert on the radio, Coop set out to get his hands on turntables at the age of 12. spontaneously moved to san francisco in 2000 where he started djing with JAH YZER and made his mark on the bubblin music scene in the city. known for his deep crates, coop’s sets incorporate everything from blues, jazz, soul, funk, latin, dub, hip-hop, dancehall, baile funk, and beyond. myspace.com/djcoopdville
